DENVER NWSL HAS RECORD 10,000 SEASON TICKET DEPOSITS

The Denver National Women’s Soccer League has made and stuck to its promises, including purpose-built stadiums and revolutionary women’s sports training facilities. In return, 10,000 fans have made their own commitment. After garnering 5,280 season ticket deposits in just a weekend following Denver NWSL’s announcement as a franchise in January, the club revealed on Monday that it has reached 10,000, breaking an NWSL record for season ticket deposits. The landmark comes a week and a half after the club announced a partnership with the Cherry Creek School District and the City of Centennial to build a stadium, state-of-the-art training facilities and seven auxiliary soccer fields outside the stadium.
The Centennial stadium near Dove Valley will house 12,000 seats while the club plays there for the 2026 and 2027 seasons, after which it will be reduced to 4,000 for the school district to use indefinitely. Construction of a purpose-built stadium and entertainment district at Santa Fe Yards is expected to be completed by spring 2028. That stadium will hold 14,500 seats with room and plans for future expansion. The club is still deciding on its permanent name and branding, for which a fan vote was held in February to narrow down a list of six potential franchise names to one.

CASA BONITA OPENS SUMMER RESERVATIONS TO STRONG DEMAND

Casa Bonita opened summer reservations on Monday, and the Lakewood Mexican restaurant remains one of the most coveted tables in town – even nearly two years after making its re-debut under owners Matt Stone and Trey Parker of “South Park” fame. At 9 a.m., Casa Bonita made reservations available for June 1 through Sept. 7, and anyone who signed on to casabonitadenver.com to grab on joined a massive queue of hopeful diners. By 10 a.m., nearly 10,000 people were in line to book a table, and the wait time was expected to be longer than one hour.
Casa Bonita’s popularity is unsurprising given its long history as a staple attraction near Denver. While Casa Bonita is a restaurant and a historic landmark, the real draw is the entertainment. The 52,000-square-foot interior is designed to resemble different parts of Mexico, complete with cliffs from Acapulco, where divers leap and do tricks into a pool below. There are also roving actors, magicians, an arcade, a puppet show and areas to explore like Black Bart’s Cave at the core of the experience.

MIND SPRINGS ACQUIRED, REBRANDED AS HEALTH SOLUTIONS

Mind Springs Health has a new name, and operator after being acquired April 7. The newly in-charge organization, Health Solutions, is a non-profit medical and behavioral healthcare provider founded in Pueblo more than 60 years ago. Mind Springs was renamed Health Solutions West once the operational overtake was approved by the appropriate regulatory agencies. According to a press release, the arrangement comes at a critical time with growing community concerns about mental healthcare quality, consistency and availability across the Western Slope. The press release added that current Mind Springs clients will continue receiving services without interruption and should attend appointments as planned.
Health Solutions Chief Executive Officer Jason Chippeaux, who will also serve as CEO for the western counterpart, said this transition will bring reliable services to the area but did not mention specifics. No mention of West Springs Psychiatric Hospital, a potential for reopening or planned alternative service lines were mentioned in the press release. The existing Mind Springs locations will remain open, and staff across the region are being engaged by Health Solutions to ensure “local experience and relationships are preserved.” Learn more about Health Solutions by visiting www.health.solutions.

Steamboat Free Summer Concerts unveiled its 2025 lineup at their annual reveal party and fundraiser, which took place Saturday at Old Town Pub in Steamboat Springs. Entering its third decade, the Steamboat Free Summer Concerts have become a beloved local tradition and a much-anticipated opportunity for the community to gather at Howelsen Hill for live music, dancing and food trucks. What began in the 1990s as a small community effort to bring high-quality live acts to the Yampa Valley has blossomed into a signature series of events that welcomes thousands of locals and visitors each summer.
  • June 21 – Andy Frasco & The U.N. | Opener: Graham Good & The Painters. Kicking off the season will be Andy Frasco & The U.N., a powerhouse known for high-energy performances that blend rock, blues and funk with what some call a healthy dose of chaotic creation.
  • July 19 – Julian Marley & The Uprising | Opener: Mighty Mystic. Bringing the island vibes to the Steamboat Free Summer Concerts is Julian Marley, the son of reggae legend Bob Marley. Taking the stage with The Uprising, they are known for continuing the Marley legacy with spiritual and socially conscious music.

The rising Daniel Donato, fresh off two consecutive years of performing at WinterWonderGrass, has built a reputation in the jam and Americana scene by combining country, psychedelic rock and jam-band improvisation into what he likes to call “Cosmic Country.”
  • Aug. 31 – Brothers Comatose | Opener: Little Moon Travelers. The summer concert series will close with Brothers Comatose, a West Coast string band that brings a modern twist to traditional bluegrass. Their picking and rich vocal harmonies result in upbeat music that is full of spirit. KSL CAPITAL-OWNED LUXURY CAMPING CO. EXPANDS TO FARM & RANCH PROPERTIES

A Denver-based outdoor hospitality group that offers safari-style, upscale camping is expanding to properties where its guests can have farming and ranching experiences. Under Canvas, majority owned by an affiliate of Denver-based private equity firm KSL Capital Partners, has launched a new portfolio of properties under its Outdoor Collection which features lodges and cottage-style accommodations to offer “nature-based” experiences. Under Canvas currently operates 13 luxury camping locations close to national parks across the country. It also owns Utah-based Ulum resorts, which debuted its first location in Moab, Utah two years ago. Matt Gaghen, the CEO of Under Canvas, said the business is looking for similar properties to help it expand the collection. Highlights:
  • The 30-acre Fields of Michigan property, within driving distance from Chicago and Detroit, includes tent and cottages with a pool, upscale dining, massage services and blueberry picking activities. The property is able to accommodate 23 private guests and includes access to watersports, beaches, bike trails with complimentary bikes and other seasonal events. Its cottages and tents include ensuite bathrooms, electricity and private fire pits, with a building called The Willow serving as a communal dining space. The Fields of Michigan property is available to guests from May 1 to Nov. 2, 2025. Rates start at $138 for tents sleeping two people and up to $322 per night for cottage rentals.
  • In Montana, the 200-acre Bar N Ranch valley property is six miles from the west entrance to Yellowstone National Park with access to Grand Tetons National Park. The property offers rooms in a lodge as well or private log cabins with one to four bedrooms. In the summer, the Montana property offers fly-fishing, horseback riding, hiking, whitewater rafting and guided tours of Yellowstone National Park. The Montana property accepts reservations from May 8 to Oct. 6. Rates start at $296 per night.
Last month, the outdoor hospitality company announced it would invest $50 million into developing new camping sites and expanding already-existing sites for the 2025 season. It announced plans to open a new, 80-acre glamping site in California’s Yosemite National Park and a 120-acre campsite along the Columbia River Gorge in Washington’s White Salmon River Valley.

'MEGA' OVERHAUL TO POPULAR COLORADO LOTTERY GAME IS HERE

The Colorado Lottery announced Jan. 8 it was set to perform a “mega” overhaul for its Mega Millions jackpot game. The plans mean bigger prizes and better odds for players after the improved game launched April 5, but also higher prices to play accompany the launch. Among the enhancements, players will benefit from:
  • Improved odds to win the jackpot; the odds will go from 1 in 302 million to 1 in 290 million
  • Bigger jackpots more frequently
  • Larger starting jackpots; starts at $50 million
  • Faster growing jackpots
  • A built-in multiplier on every play, automatically improving every non-jackpot win by 2X, 3X, 4X, 5X or 10X – up to $10 million for matching the five white balls
  • No breakeven prizes, meaning when a player wins, they’ll always win more than the cost of the ticket. The prize for matching the Mega Ball alone will increase to $10 to $50 depending on the multiplier generated for each set of numbers played.
The Colorado Lottery said players who enjoy advance play will no longer be able to purchase games beyond April 4, when the game changes go into effect. The first drawing is on April 8. Since the game launched, Colorado has seen five $1 million dollar winners. Winners through the Megaplier have included six $1 million winners, two $2 million winners, and three $4 million winners. Since July 2024, Colorado has seen more than $200,000 in winners from $10,000 to $40,000 through standard game play. Tickets for the new and improved game will cost $5 per play.
