A small blaze was reported Wednesday afternoon in the Gold Hill Trail area above Breckenridge, but it quickly exploded to cover 80 acres with flames 125 feet high roaring up Peak 2. The sudden eruption forced the evacuation of 450 homes in the Peak 7 area and the entire town of Breckenridge was placed on pre-evacuation notice. Fortunately, a change of direction in the wind around 3 p.m. pushed the fire back on itself and reduced the spread of flames.

VOLVO GOING ALL-ELECTRIC FOR ITS CARS BY 2019
Tesla Inc. will begin production this week on its new mass-market Model 3 electric battery-powered family car. However, the biggest news in the world of electric automobiles came Wednesday when Volvo announced all Volvo models from 2019 forward would be either fully electric or hybrid. Volvo is the Swedish luxury car company founded in 1927 that was bought by Ford Motor Co. in 1999 and Ford sold it to a Chinese investment company, Geely Holding Group, in 2010. Volvo is building its first manufacturing plant in the U.S. now. With the announcement, Volvo becomes the first major auto maker to abandon the internal combustion engine for powering a car. Volvo has a goal of selling one million electric cars and hybrids by 2025. The company plans to launch five new electric and hybrid vehicles between 2019 and 2021. Volvo sold 82,726 vehicles in the U.S. last year, an 18 percent increase over a year earlier, making the U.S. Volvo's fastest-growing market.
