WEWORK HAS BIG PRESENCE IN DOWNTOWN DENVER
|

|
WeWork, the New York-based co-working company, already has more than 600,000 square feet of space in Denver it controls and makes available for shared use. Now, Denver-based EverWest Real Estate Investors and their partners announced they are leasing the entire 86,000-square-foot Junction 23 building just north of Coors Field to WeWork. WeWork uses the metric of desks available to clients to measure its size and WeWork had 2,060 desks available in 2018 and now has 4,100 desks and plans to have 13,000 desks at 11 locations this year.

ROCKIES NAME DEVELOPMENT AFTER KELI MCGREGOR
|
|
|
|
Construction is underway at the site of the former "West Lot" of Coors Field, as the Colorado Rockies are building a huge mixed-use project that will include a 176-room hotel, 112 condominium units, an office tower and 75,000 square feet of bars and restaurant space. On Thursday, Rockies principal owner and CEO Dick Monfort announced the entire block will be named McGregor Square after the Rockies team president Keli McGregor who passed away from a rare virus in 2010.

CARRANZA TABBED TO HEAD SBA
|
|
|
|
President Trump Thursday said he would nominate U.S. Treasurer Jovita Carranza to run the Small Business Administration to replace Linda McMahon, who announced last week she was leaving the post. Carranza is currently the chief adviser to Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin. She served as the SBA's deputy administrator under President George W. Bush. At Treasury, Carranza oversees operations of the U.S. Mint and is a liaison with Federal Reserve System. Her signature, along with Mr. Mnuchin's, has appeared on new currency since 2017.

BUTTERMILK, SUNLIGHT CLOSE SUNDAY
|
|
|
|
Sunlight Mountain Resort and Buttermilk close for the season Sunday, April 7, and both will have music and other closing day events. At Buttermilk there will be the inaugural three-day music event in conjunction with Belly Up, The Après. The Après will kick off with Umphrey’s McGee on Friday, April 5 followed by back-to-back nights of jamming with The String Cheese Incident. The Après will also include performances from special guests; Moon Taxi, The Main Squeeze, Southern Avenue, and ALO. At Sunlight, the Yard Sale Spring Music Series continues with live music on the deck, starting at 2 p.m. and Sunlight brings back the popular pond skim competition Sunday.

BERNHARDT GETS SENATE COMMITTEE OK
|
|
|
|
The U.S. Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee Thursday approved the nomination of David Bernhardt to become secretary of the Department of Interior by a 14-6 vote, sending the nomination to consideration by the full U.S. Senate. Sen. Cory Gardner, R-Colo., sits on the committee and joined other Republicans on the committee in voting for the Bernhardt confirmation. Two Democrats on the committee, Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Martin Heinrich of New Mexico, voted for Bernhardt's confirmation, as did Angus King, an Independent from Maine.

WHEELOCK TO HEAD GJ SPORTS COMMISSION
|
|
|
|
The Greater Grand Junction Sports Commission named Renee Wheelock as director. Wheelock formerly was with Ride the Rockies. The Sports Commission is a nonprofit collaborative between Colorado Mesa University, Mesa County and the cities of Grand Junction and Fruita and the town of Palisade to attract new sporting events to the area and receives funding from a portion of the lodging tax passed by Grand Junction voters last year. The commission was formed in 2013.

COMMERCIAL JET SERVICE COMING TO TEX
|
|
|
|
The Denver Air Connection, a regional carrier with an interline relationship with United Airlines, will begin daily flights on a 30-seat Dornier 328JET from Denver to Telluride Regional Airport (TEX) on May 15. The flights will operate year-round with the exception of two short seasonal breaks in spring and fall. The flight time between Telluride and Denver is 40 minutes and the schedule will be optimized for connections at Denver International Airport. Denver Air Connection's relationship with United allows travelers to book and connect via the global United network.

CDOT: $600,000 PROJECT TO UPGRADE SIDEWALK ACCESS IN DURANGO
|
|
|
|
The Colorado Department of Transportation has an ongoing $600,000 construction project to bring 10 intersections in Durango up to the standards of the Americans with Disabilities Act. The work involves installing 19 ADA-compliant ramps to intersections that have no ramps or ramps that aren't compliant. The project also makes improvements to curbs, gutters and sidewalks. The project is expected to be completed by July.

COUNTRY BOY MINE LOOKS TO MAKE A COMEBACK
|
|
|
|
The Country Boy Mine, located just minutes from downtown Breckenridge at 542 French Gulch Road, once produced gold, silver, zinc and lead before falling dormant. In February, Mike Shipley and a group of investors purchased the mine for $2 million. The new owners plan to rebuild the interior of the mine, replacing timbers with steel supports, as well as restoring the compressor house and mill and other structures on the 20-acre site. There will be tours as well as gold panning on a year-round basis.

Property taxes levied on single family homes in the U.S. in 2018 totaled $304.6 billion

That's up 4 percent from $293.4 billion in 2017

Average per home: $3,498
-
That is up 3 percent from the average property tax of $3,399 in 2017
-
The effective tax rate: 1.16 percent
-
That is down slightly from the effective property tax rate of 1.17 percent in 2017
